The Nio EL6 has a maximum power of 480 KW (653 hp/644 bhp). The total torque is 850 nm (627 ft-lb). It performs the 0-100km/h sprint (0-62mph) in 4,5 seconds. The top speed is 200 km/h.
Battery, range, and charging
Nio EL6 has two battery options with different specifications. Below you see how this affects range and charging.
The battery has a gross capacity of 100kWh and a net capacity of 90kWh, meaning you have a 10kWh buffer for protection. (10,0%).
The WLTP range varies from 513 to 486 km (319-302 mi), depending on car options. Bigger wheels are an example of an equipment option that increases consumption and reduces the electric range. The consumption is between 17.5kWh/100km for the basic version and 18.5kWh/100km for the top trim version for the WLTP standard test. The maximum DC charging speed is 126kW. A full charge from 0 - 100% would take 75 minutes, while a more common scenario of 10-80% would take 41 minutes. If you assume you lose 5 minutes driving per charge stop in addition to the charge time, the optimum charge area is from 1% to 44%, resulting in an actual charge speed, including time loss, of 86kW. Each charge session would take 27 minutes and 2 seconds.
For the theoretical 1000km challenge, starting with a full battery and driving at 120km/h (75 mph), assuming optimal driving conditions and consumption of 28kWh/100km, 1000km will take 10 hours and 34 minutes. For level 1 and level 2 AC charging, the onboard charger supports up to 11 KW charging. As a result, you can charge the battery 0-100% from home in about 8 hours and 10 minutes.
The location of the charge port is on the right front side. This location makes it easy to use charge stations where you park side into the charger. This model support battery swap. Battery swap means you can drive to a unique battery swap station and get the battery replaced with a new battery with 90% SOC. The battery swap takes 7 minutes.
The front suspension is double wishbone, and the rear suspension is Multilink. It uses steel springs and hydraulic dampers. The suspension has steel springs with a fixed height, but you can adjust damping to fit your driving style or road condition. The ground clearance with this suspension is 170 mm.
Dynamic steering is a standard feature on the Nio EL6. Dynamic steering varies the steering ratio as a function of driving speed.
The rear and front brakes are cast-iron discs.
Regenerative braking is available through one-pedal driving. Automatic regen or coasting is not available in this model. At low speeds, the one-pedal drive mode will keep the car creeping forward. You can adjust how strong regen you get when you lift the foot. There are three levels.
You can choose between 7 different paint colors when ordering this model. Additionally, you can choose between 2 wheels with sizes from 20 to 21 inches.
There is only one roof for this model. The standard roof has a panoramic roof. The glass extends most of the roof, and occupants can open the front part. This glass makes the car’s interior feel more spacious and bright, which can improve the mood and comfort of the occupant. It has an electric curtain that occupants can use to protect against the sun.
You can choose between different types of seat materials and interior styling. The seat layout is the traditional five seats with two in front and three in the rear.

Only one front seat type is available in the Nio EL6.

There is only one type of steering wheel available.
There is one climate system available. The 3-zone climate system supports different temperatures in three zones for the driver, passenger and backseat. This model has a heat pump as standard. This heat pump can save significant energy that the EV would use for heating in cold weather.
Nio EL6 has several features to make your life as a driver or passenger more comfortable.
Keyless entry allows access to the car without needing to find the key. As long you bring it with you, the doors open.
Keyless go makes it possible to start the car without using the key.
The steering wheel is electrically adjustable.
You have wireless charging for your phone.
User interface and control
The screen behind the steering wheel mounted into the dashboard is 10.2 inches large. The touch screen in the middle of the center console is 12.8 inches large. A head-up display is a standard system that presents speed and other important driver information in front of the driver on the windshield.
This model is equipped with voice control as standard. The voice control lets you control some functionality through voice commands.
One type of sound system is available for the Nio EL6. With the Premium sound system, you get 23 speakers with a max system output of watts.
In addition, with the standard in-car navigation system, you get the help you need to find your destination.
The model has 3 USB-C connections as standard. The model has 1 USB-A connections as standard.
The standard headlights use LED Matrix technology. LED Matrix is an adaptive system that splits the traditional single headlight beam into dozens of smaller rays that the light controller can turn on and off individually to un-light small areas in front. In addition, the standard taillights use LED technology.
Advanced driver assistance systems
The Nio EL6 has several standard and optional advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) for better safety and comfort.
The Nio EL6 has an anti-lock braking system (ABS) as a standard system. This system helps to prevent a vehicle’s wheels from locking up during braking.
The Nio EL6 has an Electronic Stability Control as a standard system designed to improve a vehicle’s stability and handling during sudden maneuvers or slippery road conditions.
The Nio EL6 has a lane-keeping assist as a standard system. This system helps to prevent the car from getting out of its lane. In addition, it has a lane departure warning system that warns the driver if the vehicle leaves the driving lane.
Front Cross Traffic Assist is an optional driver assist system that helps drivers detect oncoming traffic when crossing an intersection or turning left or right from a stopped position.
Rear Cross Traffic Alert is a standard driver assist system that uses sensors to detect approaching vehicles from the side when backing out of a parking space or driveway.
Forward Collision Warning is an optional driver assist system to help drivers avoid or mitigate frontal collisions.
The Nio EL6 has automatic emergency braking as a standard system. This system helps prevent or mitigate collisions by applying the brakes autonomously if the driver fails to react to an impending collision.
Automatic emergency steering is an optional driver assist system designed to help drivers avoid collisions by automatically steering the vehicle in an emergency.
Blind-spot monitoring is a standard driver-assist system. This side assist system helps to detect traffic in blind spots.
The Nio EL6 offers driving automation on level 1 or 2, depending on the equipment level.
With the NIO Pilot Selected Pack level 1 system, you get the following driving automation features.
With the NIO Pilot Complete Pack level 2 system, you get additional driving automation features to the ones listed above.
- Autosteer: keeps the car in your lane and slows down if needed in traffic. The system limits how long you can drive without touching the steering wheel.
- Advance cruise control that follows navigation and turns off and on major roads to reach the target.
Cargo Capacity and Towing Ability
The cargo capacity in the trunk is 668 liters. With the rear seat down, it is 1430 liters. On the roof, you can load up to 100 kg (220,5 lbs). The maxium weight of the car is 2850 kg (6283 lbs), and with the base weight of 2366 kg (5216 lbs), you can max load 484 kg (1067 lbs), including driver and passengers. Some options can increase the base weight and reduce the maximum loading weight.484kg is considered low for this type of car and might restrict how much stuff you can bring in addition to passengers.
You can order the car with a towbar. The maximum total weight on a braked trailer is 1200, and on unbraked, it is 750 kg (2646/1653 lbs).
