SAIC-Audi E7X Launches in China: Five Variants, 400 kW Charging and Up to 660 km Range
SAIC-Audi has opened pre-sales for the all-new AUDI E7X, its flagship full-size electric SUV built exclusively for the Chinese market. Five variants are offered at launch, priced from ¥289,800 to ¥387,800, with deliveries expected to begin in 2026.
A Flagship Built for China
The E7X sits at the top of SAIC-Audi's electric lineup — a purpose-built EV on an all-aluminium 800 V platform stretching 5,049 mm in length. With a 3,060 mm wheelbase, it competes with the BMW iX and Mercedes EQS SUV in the premium large SUV segment.
The exterior is defined by SAIC-Audi's "Star Diamond Light Curtain" design language: a full-width illuminated light bar at the front, DLP high-definition projection headlights, and a backlit AUDI wordmark spanning the tailgate. All doors feature flush retractable door handles and frameless glass, while a 2.195 m² electrochromic smart-dimming panoramic roof is standard across the range.

The two quattro variants deliver 500 kW of combined system output and 800 Nm of torque, dispatching 0-100 km/h in 3.94 seconds. Front-wheel-drive variants produce 300 kW and 500 Nm.
CATL Cell-to-Pack Batteries with 400 kW Charging
Both battery options use CATL prismatic NMC cells in a cell-to-pack (CTP) architecture - cells mount directly into the structural pack frame with no intermediate module housings. The 109.3 kWh pack uses a 204-cell series configuration (204s1p) at 744.6 V nominal, delivering 147 Ah of capacity.
Peak DC charging is rated at 400 kW across all variants, enabling rapid top-ups on China's growing 800 V charging network. The charge curve ramps from 80 kW at 0% SOC to a sustained 400 kW plateau between 10% and 20% SOC before tapering progressively through to 100%.
Rear-Wheel Steering Standard on All Variants
All five E7X variants receive rear-wheel steering as standard, turning the rear wheels up to 14 degrees to bring the turning circle down to 5.14 m - a meaningful advantage for a 5-metre SUV in urban conditions.
From Pioneer Pro upward, SAIC-Audi adds the full Audi Track-Level Chassis package: CDC adaptive dampers, air suspension and an all-aluminium chassis structure in addition to the rear-wheel steering. The entry Pioneer variant uses coil springs with passive dampers while still benefiting from the rear-wheel steering system.
Interior: Zero-Gravity Seats and a 9.1.4.8 BOSE Sound System
Inside, the E7X adopts a minimalist, screen-focused layout with four-zone climate control and a heat pump as standard. Seat options progress through the range:
- Pioneer Pro and above: Zero-gravity front passenger seat - the seatback, cushion and leg support recline into a flat, weightless position for long-distance comfort.
- Flagship quattro: Four-seat captain chair layout with zero-gravity function for all four occupants, heated and ventilated rear seats with massage, footrests and leg supports.
The Flagship quattro also receives the BOSE Performance 9.1.4.8 immersive sound system as standard - featuring a 9.1.4.8 speaker architecture with a 2000 MIPS DSP processor.
Digital folding camera mirrors replace conventional wing mirrors from Pioneer Pro upward, offering improved visibility in rain, fog and low-light conditions.
Six Colours, Wheel Options by Variant
All five variants share the same six exterior colours: Monday Black, Flowing Silver (included at no extra cost), Nebula Purple, Dark Rock Beige, Misty Blue and Titanium Gray.
Wheel sizes vary by variant. Entry Pioneer and Pro variants offer 21-inch wheels; Long-Range and quattro variants step up to 22-inch options with Brembo fixed-caliper brakes. The Flagship quattro is exclusively available on 22-inch wheels in two finishes - a high-definition Premium alloy and a Matte Black - both included at no extra charge.
Interior Design Combinations
Two wood trim options - Oak and Chestnut - are offered across the range, each pairing with seat colour choices that vary by variant:
- Pioneer: Oak or Chestnut with Quantum Silver or Gilt Brown leather
- Pioneer Pro and Long-Range: Oak or Chestnut with Quantum Silver, Ink Blue or Gilt Brown leather
- Pioneer quattro and Flagship quattro: Oak or Chestnut with Quantum Silver or Ink Blue only
All seat materials use Nappa leather; the Flagship adds FeinNappa calfskin leather as part of its Haute Couture luxury package.
Availability
The E7X is a China-exclusive model sold through SAIC-Audi dealerships. Pre-sale configuration opened in May 2026 across all five variants simultaneously.
