The battery has a gross capacity of 78.0 kWh and a net usable capacity of 75.0 kWh, with a 3.0 kWh buffer (3.8%) for battery protection. With a nominal voltage of 400 volts, the system is classified as a 400-volt battery system.
The lithium-ion battery uses NMC (nickel manganese cobalt) chemistry.
According to the WLTP (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure) standard, the vehicle's range is 468 km (291 miles), with an energy consumption rate of 16.0 kWh/100 km (3.9 mi/kWh).

The vehicle supports fast DC charging with a maximum power of 150 kW. A 0–100% charge takes approximately 163 minutes. A typical 10–80% session takes about 37 minutes at an average power of 85 kW.
With five minutes of overhead per stop, the optimal charging window is 7–51%. Effective average power, including overhead, is 90 kW over a session lasting about 22 minutes and 5 seconds.
Onboard Charger
The standard onboard charger supports AC charging at up to 11 kW. A full 0–100% charge takes about 6 hours and 49 minutes with a suitable home charging setup.
Charge Port
The charge port is on the left rear side. This position suits charging bays where the vehicle reverses toward the charging point.
This model uses a CCS Combo 2 connector in its charge port.
Drivetrain
The Polestar 2 Long Range Dual Motor Performance (GEN1) features an all-wheel drive system powered by two motors, one on each axle.

The front and rear seatbelts are equipped with pyrotechnic pretensioners and load limiters. In the event of a collision, the pretensioners tighten the seatbelts to secure occupants firmly in their seats, while the load limiters allow a controlled amount of webbing to extend, reducing the risk of injury from excessive force.
Security and Access Technologies
The Polestar 2 Long Range Dual Motor Performance (GEN1) includes the following security and access features:

The frunk (front trunk) has a capacity of 35 liters (1.2 cu ft).
The maximum permitted vehicle weight is 2600 kg (5732 lbs), and the base curb weight is 2113 kg (4658 lbs). This leaves a payload of 487 kg (1074 lbs), including occupants. Options can increase curb weight and reduce payload.
A towbar can be added to the vehicle. The maximum permissible weight for a braked trailer is 1500 kg (3307 lbs), while for an unbraked trailer, it is 750 kg (1653 lbs).
