Performance

The MG ZS EV Long Range has a maximum power of 115 KW (156 hp/154 bhp). The total torque is 280 nm (207 ft-lb). It performs the 0-100km/h sprint (0-62mph) in 8.6 seconds. The top speed is 175 km/h.

Battery, range, and charging

The battery has a gross capacity of 72,6kWh and a net capacity of 68,3kWh, meaning you have a 4,3kWh buffer for protection. (5.9%).

The maximum DC charging speed is 94kW. A full charge from 0 - 100% would take 112 minutes, while a more common scenario of 10-80% would take 42 minutes. If you assume you lose 5 minutes driving per charge stop in addition to the charge time, the optimum charge area is from 8% to 61%, resulting in an actual charge speed, including time loss, of 63kW. Each charge session would take 34 minutes and 23 seconds.

For the theoretical 1000km challenge, starting with a full battery and driving at 120km/h (75 mph), assuming optimal driving conditions and consumption of 24kWh/100km, 1000km will take 11 hours and 4 minutes. This trip will require four charge session(s) charging from 7% to 70%. The total time lost for charging up the battery will be 165 minutes.

Onboard charger

For level 1 and level 2 AC charging, the onboard charger supports up to 11 KW charging. As a result, you can charge the battery 0-100% from home in about 6 hours and 12 minutes.

Charge port

The location of the charge port is on the front. This location makes it easy to use charge stations where you need to park with the front in. The connector types vary between the different markets. Drivetrain

MG ZS EV Long Range has a rear-wheel drive system supported by one motor on the rear axle.

The front suspension is MacPherson Strut, and the rear suspension is Multilink. It uses steel springs and hydraulic dampers. The suspension has a fixed height and damping. The ground clearance with this suspension is 161 mm.

Brakes

The rear and front brakes are cast-iron discs.

Regenerative braking is available in several modes. The most efficient is automatic regen. In this mode, the car coasts when possible and uses regenerative braking to reduce speed. You can also enable one-pedal driving.

Exterior

You can choose between 5 different paint colors when ordering this model.

The car has four regular doors and a liftgate.

There is only one roof for this model. The standard roof has a panoramic roof. The glass extends most of the roof, and occupants can open the front part. This glass makes the car’s interior feel more spacious and bright, which can improve the mood and comfort of the occupant. It has an electric curtain that occupants can use to protect against the sun.

You can order the car with tinted windows from B-pillar and back.

Interior

You can choose between different types of seat materials and interior styling. You can choose between several interior designs. The seat layout is the traditional five seats with two in front and three in the rear.

First row seats

Only one front seat type is available in the MG ZS EV Long Range.

There is one climate system available. The climate system supports only controlling one shared zone for the whole car. This model has a heat pump as standard. This heat pump can save significant energy that the EV would use for heating in cold weather.

Comfort

MG ZS EV Long Range has several features to make your life as a driver or passenger more comfortable.

Keyless go makes it possible to start the car without using the key.

You have wireless charging for your phone.

User interface and control

The screen behind the steering wheel mounted into the dashboard is 7.0 inches large. The touch screen at the top of the center console is 10.2 inches large. The model does not have a head-up display.

This model is equipped with voice control as standard. The voice control lets you control some functionality through voice commands.

Infotainment

You can choose between two sound systems on the MG ZS EV Long Range. With the MG standard system, you get four speakers with a max system output of watts. With the MG luxury sound system, you get six speakers with a max system output of watts.

In addition, with the standard in-car navigation system, you get the help you need to find your destination. Furthermore, the MG ZS EV Long Range supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. This functionality allows you to present your phone’s screen in the car’s screen so you can run apps like Google Maps or Waze.

Lights

The standard headlights use LED technology. In addition, the standard taillights use LED technology.

Advanced driver assistance systems

The MG ZS EV Long Range has several standard and optional advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) for better safety and comfort.

Safety systems

The MG ZS EV Long Range has an Electronic Stability Control as a standard system designed to improve a vehicle’s stability and handling during sudden maneuvers or slippery road conditions.

The MG ZS EV Long Range has a lane-keeping assist as a standard system. This system helps to prevent the car from getting out of its lane. In addition, it has a lane departure warning system that warns the driver if the vehicle leaves the driving lane.

Forward Collision Warning is a standard driver assist system to help drivers avoid or mitigate frontal collisions.

Blind-spot monitoring is an optional driver-assist system. This side assist system helps to detect traffic in blind spots.

Driving Automation

With the level 2 system, you get the following driving automation features.

• Adaptive Cruise control
• Lane Centering Assist (LCA) /AutoSteer: keeps the car in your lane and slows down if needed in traffic. The system limits how long you can drive without touching the steering wheel.

Cargo Capacity and Towing Ability

The cargo capacity in the trunk is 448 liters. With the rear seat down, it is 1166 liters. On the roof, you can load up to 75 kg (165.3 lbs). Under the hood, there is frunk with more storage room. This frunk is 150 liters (5.3 CU FT). The maxium weight of the car is 2070 kg (4564 lbs), and with the base weight of 1620 kg (3571 lbs), you can max load 450 kg (992 lbs), including driver and passengers. Some options can increase the base weight and reduce the maximum loading weight. 450kg is considered low for this type of car and might restrict how much stuff you can bring in addition to passengers.

You can order the car with a towbar. The maximum total weight on a braked trailer is 500, and on unbraked, it is 500 kg (1102/1102 lbs).
