The battery has a gross capacity of 149.0 kWh and a net usable capacity of 142.3 kWh, with a 6.7 kWh buffer (4.5%) for battery protection. With a nominal voltage of 392 volts, the system is classified as a 400-volt battery system.
The lithium-ion battery uses NMC (nickel manganese cobalt) chemistry.
According to the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) standard, the vehicle has an range of 410 miles (660 km) with an energy consumption rate of 2.9 miles per kWh.

The vehicle supports fast DC charging with a maximum power of 207 kW. A 0–100% charge takes approximately 121 minutes. A typical 10–80% session takes about 49 minutes at an average power of 123 kW.
With five minutes of overhead per stop, the optimal charging window is 0–45%. Effective average power, including overhead, is 139 kW over a session lasting about 28 minutes and 41 seconds.
In a 1000 km challenge at a constant speed of 120 km/h (75 mph) with an assumed consumption rate of 30 kWh/100 km, the trip would take about 9 hours and 29 minutes, needing three charging stops from 0% to 37%, totaling 69 minutes of charging time.

Bidirectional Charging
This model supports V2L (Vehicle to Load), allowing you to power electrical equipment requiring up to 145 kW of power, and even charge other electric vehicles.
Drivetrain
The Rivian R1S Performance Dual-Motor AWD MP (GEN1) features an all-wheel drive system powered by two motors, one on each axle.

Suspension

Safety

A towbar can be added to the vehicle. The maximum permissible weight for a braked trailer is 3500 kg (7716 lbs), while for an unbraked trailer, it is 750 kg (1653 lbs).
