Performance

The BYD Atto 3 has a maximum power of 150 KW (204 hp/201 bhp). The total torque is 310 nm (229 ft-lb). It performs the 0-100km/h sprint (0-62mph) in 7.3 seconds. The top speed is 160 km/h.

Battery, range, and charging

The battery has a gross capacity of 60,5kWh and a net capacity of 58kWh, meaning you have a 2,5kWh buffer for protection. (4.1%). The Lithium-Ion battery uses LFP technology. This has some benefits and disadvantages from the typical NCA/NCM batteries.

The maximum DC charging speed is 88kW. A full charge from 0 - 100% would take 59 minutes, while a more common scenario of 10-80% would take 34 minutes. If you assume you lose 5 minutes driving per charge stop in addition to the charge time, the optimum charge area is from 2% to 63%, resulting in an actual charge speed, including time loss, of 67kW. Each charge session would take 32 minutes and 40 seconds.

For the theoretical 1000km challenge, starting with a full battery and driving at 120km/h (75 mph), assuming optimal driving conditions and consumption of 23kWh/100km, 1000km will take 10 hours and 55 minutes. This trip will require five charge session(s) charging from 3% to 63%. The total time lost for charging up the battery will be 156 minutes.

Onboard charger

For level 1 and level 2 AC charging, the onboard charger supports up to 7 KW charging. As a result, you can charge the battery 0-100% from home in about 8 hours and 17 minutes.

Charge port

The location of the charge port is on the right front side. This location makes it easy to use charge stations where you park side into the charger. Drivetrain

BYD Atto 3 has a front-wheel drive system supported by one motor on the front axle. The motor(s) used are Induction Motors.

The suspension has a fixed height and damping. The ground clearance with this suspension is 175 mm.

Steering

Dynamic steering is a standard feature on the BYD Atto 3. Dynamic steering varies the steering ratio as a function of driving speed.

Brakes

The rear and front brakes are cast-iron discs.

Regenerative braking is available through one-pedal driving combined with blended brakes. Automatic regen is not available in this model.

Exterior

You can choose between 4 different paint colors when ordering this model.

The car has four regular doors and a liftgate.

There is only one roof for this model. The standard roof has a panoramic roof. The glass extends most of the roof, and occupants can open the front part. This glass makes the car’s interior feel more spacious and bright, which can improve the mood and comfort of the occupant. It has an electric curtain that occupants can use to protect against the sun.

The windows from B-pillar and back are tinted.

Interior

You can choose between different types of seats, seat materials, and interior styling. The seat layout is the traditional five seats with two in front and three in the rear.

First row seats

Only one front seat type is available in the BYD Atto 3.

Climate system

There is one climate system available. The 2-zone climate system supports different temperatures in two zones for the driver and passenger. This model has a heat pump as standard. This heat pump can save significant energy that the EV would use for heating in cold weather.

Comfort

BYD Atto 3 has several features to make your life as a driver or passenger more comfortable.

Keyless entry allows access to the car without needing to find the key. As long you bring it with you, the doors open.

Keyless go makes it possible to start the car without using the key.

The steering wheel is electrically adjustable.

You have wireless charging for your phone.

User interface and control

Two different screen setups are available on the BYD Atto 3.

The standard layout has the following configuration. Behind the steering wheel is a digital instrument cluster, and on the right part, there is an infotainment screen. The screen behind the steering wheel mounted into the dashboard is 5.0 inches large. The touch screen on the dashboard’s center is 12.8 inches large.

The optional Design layout has the following configuration. Behind the steering wheel is a digital instrument cluster, and on the right part, there is an infotainment screen. The screen behind the steering wheel mounted into the dashboard is 5.0 inches large. The touch screen on the dashboard’s center is 15.6 inches large. The model does not have a head-up display.

Infotainment

One type of sound system is available for the BYD Atto 3. With the Dirac, you get eight speakers with a max system output of watts.

In addition, with the standard in-car navigation system, you get the help you need to find your destination.

The model has 2 USB-C connections as standard. The model has 2 USB-A connections as standard.

Lights

The standard headlights use LED technology. In addition, the standard taillights use LED technology.

Advanced driver assistance systems

The BYD Atto 3 has several standard and optional advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) for better safety and comfort.

Safety systems

The BYD Atto 3 has an anti-lock braking system (ABS) as a standard system. This system helps to prevent a vehicle’s wheels from locking up during braking.

The BYD Atto 3 has an Electronic Stability Control as a standard system designed to improve a vehicle’s stability and handling during sudden maneuvers or slippery road conditions.

The BYD Atto 3 has a lane-keeping assist as a standard system. This system helps to prevent the car from getting out of its lane. In addition, it has a lane departure warning system that warns the driver if the vehicle leaves the driving lane.

Front Cross Traffic Assist is an optional driver assist system that helps drivers detect oncoming traffic when crossing an intersection or turning left or right from a stopped position.

Rear Cross Traffic Alert is a standard driver assist system that uses sensors to detect approaching vehicles from the side when backing out of a parking space or driveway.

Forward Collision Warning is an optional driver assist system to help drivers avoid or mitigate frontal collisions.

The BYD Atto 3 has automatic emergency braking as a standard system. This system helps prevent or mitigate collisions by applying the brakes autonomously if the driver fails to react to an impending collision.

Automatic emergency steering is an optional driver assist system designed to help drivers avoid collisions by automatically steering the vehicle in an emergency.

Blind-spot monitoring is a standard driver-assist system. This side assist system helps to detect traffic in blind spots.

Driving Automation

The BYD Atto 3 offers driving automation on level 1, depending on the equipment level.

With the level 1 system, you get the following driving automation features.

Cargo Capacity and Towing Ability

The cargo capacity in the trunk is 440 liters. With the rear seat down, it is 1338 liters. On the roof, you can load up to 50 kg (110.2 lbs). The maxium weight of the car is 2160 kg (4762 lbs), and with the base weight of 1750 kg (3858 lbs), you can max load 410 kg (904 lbs), including driver and passengers. Some options can increase the base weight and reduce the maximum loading weight.
