Performance

Battery, range, and charging

Drivetrain

The car has four regular doors and a liftgate.

You can choose between two types of roofs on this model. The standard is just a regular roof. As an option, you can order this model with a panoramic roof. The glass extends most of the roof, and occupants can open the front part. This glass makes the car’s interior feel more spacious and bright, which can improve the mood and comfort of the occupant. It has an electric curtain that occupants can use to protect against the sun.

You can order the car with tinted windows from B-pillar and back.

Interior

You can choose between two types of seats with preconfigured materials. The seat layout is the traditional five seats with two in front and three in the rear.

The second row has a standard three-seat bench with a 60:40 split where you can fold each section separately to increase the cargo space. In addition, the following functionalities are available.

There is only one type of steering wheel available.

Climate system

You can choose from two different climate systems. The 2-zone Climatronic climate system supports different temperatures in two zones for the driver and passenger. The 3-zone climatronic climate system supports different temperatures in three zones for the driver, passenger and backseat. This model has a heat pump as standard. This heat pump can save significant energy that the EV would use for heating in cold weather.

Comfort

Volkswagen ID.5 Pro Performance has several features to make your life as a driver or passenger more comfortable.

Keyless entry allows access to the car without needing to find the key. As long you bring it with you, the doors open.

Keyless go makes it possible to start the car without using the key.

You have wireless charging for your phone.

User interface and control

Two different screen setups are available on the Volkswagen ID.5 Pro Performance.

The standard layout has the following configuration. Behind the steering wheel is a digital instrument cluster mounted on the steering wheel column, and on top of the dashboard is an infotainment screen. The screen on the steering column is 5.0 inches large. The touch screen on the dashboard’s center is 10.0 inches large.

The optional layout has the following configuration. Behind the steering wheel is a digital instrument cluster mounted on the steering wheel column, and on top of the dashboard is an infotainment screen. The screen on the steering column is 5.0 inches large. The touch screen on the dashboard’s center is 12.0 inches large and has a 1920 x 869 pixels resolution. A head-up display is an optional system that presents speed and other important driver information in front of the driver on the windshield.

Infotainment

You can choose between two sound systems on the Volkswagen ID.5 Pro Performance. With the Sound system, you get six speakers with a max system output of 140 watts. With the Volkswagen Soundsystem, you get six speakers with a max system output of 450 watts.

In addition, with the optional in-car navigation system, you get the help you need to find your destination. Furthermore, the Volkswagen ID.5 Pro Performance supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. This functionality allows you to present your phone’s screen in the car’s screen so you can run apps like Google Maps or Waze.

The model has 4 USB-C connections as standard.

Lights

You can choose between two types of headlights for the Volkswagen ID.5 Pro Performance. The standard headlights use LED technology. Headlights based on LED Matrix technology are available as an option. LED Matrix is an adaptive system that splits the traditional single headlight beam into dozens of smaller rays that the light controller can turn on and off individually to un-light small areas in front.

The Volkswagen ID.5 Pro Performance has an anti-lock braking system (ABS) as a standard system. This system helps to prevent a vehicle’s wheels from locking up during braking.

The Volkswagen ID.5 Pro Performance has an Electronic Stability Control as a standard system designed to improve a vehicle’s stability and handling during sudden maneuvers or slippery road conditions.

The Volkswagen ID.5 Pro Performance has a lane-keeping assist as a standard system. This system helps to prevent the car from getting out of its lane. In addition, it has a lane departure warning system that warns the driver if the vehicle leaves the driving lane.

Driving Automation

The Volkswagen ID.5 Pro Performance offers driving automation on level 1 or 2, depending on the equipment level.

With the level 1 system, you get the following driving automation features.

• Adaptive Cruise control

With the Assistantpackage plus level 2 system, you get additional driving automation features to the ones listed above.

• Lane Centering Assist (LCA) /AutoSteer: keeps the car in your lane and slows down if needed in traffic. The system limits how long you can drive without touching the steering wheel.
• Automatic parking. (optional)

Cargo Capacity and Towing Ability

The cargo capacity in the trunk is 549 liters. With the rear seat down, it is 1561 liters. On the roof, you can load up to 75 kg (165.3 lbs). The maxium weight of the car is 2650 kg (5842 lbs), and with the base weight of 2042 kg (4502 lbs), you can max load 608 kg (1340 lbs), including driver and passengers. Some options can increase the base weight and reduce the maximum loading weight.

You can order the car with a towbar. The maximum total weight on a braked trailer is 1000, and on unbraked, it is 750 kg (2205/1653 lbs).
