Battery, Range, and Charging
The battery has a net capacity of 53.0kWh. With a nominal voltage of 366 volts, the system is classified as a 400-volt battery system.
According to the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) standard, the vehicle has an range of 236 miles (380 km) with an energy consumption rate of 4.5 miles per kWh.

This vehicle does not support DC fast charging and can only be charged using AC charging.
Onboard Charger
The standard onboard charger supports AC charging at up to 16.8 kW. A full 0–100% charge takes about 3 hours and 9 minutes with a suitable home charging setup.
Charge Port
The charge port is on the left rear side. This position suits charging bays where the vehicle reverses toward the charging point.
Drivetrain
The Tesla Roadster (GEN1) has a rear-wheel drive system supported by one motor on the rear axle.
The motor used is Induction Motor.
Suspension
The Standard suspension has a fixed height and damping characteristics.
Ground clearance with this setup is 130 mm.
Brakes
The Tesla Roadster (GEN1) is equipped with cast-iron disc brakes on both the front and rear.
The front discs measure 300 mm, while the rear discs are 310 mm.
Regenerative Braking
Regenerative braking in this model is primarily available through one-pedal driving. Automatic regen and coasting are not available on this model.

This model does not have a heat pump. This can increase consumption in cold weather compared to models with a heat pump.

User Interface and Control

Cargo Capacity and Towing Ability
The maximum permitted vehicle weight is 1485 kg (3274 lbs), and the base curb weight is 1235 kg (2723 lbs). This leaves a payload of 250 kg (551 lbs), including occupants. Options can increase curb weight and reduce payload.
This model is not available with a towbar and cannot tow a trailer.

This model had a world premiere on 7/19/2006, and deliveries started in February 2008. This model has now been discontinued.
