Drivetrain
The Porsche Taycan (GEN1) has a rear-wheel drive system supported by one motor on the rear axle.
The motor used is Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor.
Suspension
The suspension system features a double wishbone front construction and a multi-link rear construction. Both the front and rear dampers are electronically controlled. The front and rear springs are coil springs.
The Standard suspension has steel springs with a fixed height, but you can adjust damping to fit your driving style or road condition.
Ground clearance with this setup is 127 mm.
The Porsche Taycan (GEN1) features an optional advanced suspension system with double wishbone front construction and multilink rear construction. It is equipped with electronically controlled dampers on both the front and rear, allowing for real-time adjustments to enhance ride comfort and handling. The suspension also includes air springs at both ends, providing adjustable ride height and improved adaptability to various driving conditions.
The suspension is fully adaptive on the front and rear axle, so height and damping can be adjusted manually and automatically.
The minimum ground clearance is 103 mm, and the maximum is 127 mm.
Steering
Progressive steering is standard on the Porsche Taycan (GEN1). It adjusts the steering ratio according to vehicle speed.
In addition, rear-wheel steering is optional, reducing the turning circle at low speeds.
Drive Modes
The Porsche Taycan (GEN1) lets the user select different drive modes that affect the car's handling.
The driver can choose between 5 modes:
- Range: Balanced steering, low ride height, balanced suspension damping, and efficiency-oriented throttle response.

Brakes
You can choose between different brake systems.
The Porsche Taycan (GEN1) is equipped with cast-iron disc brakes on both the front and rear.
The front discs measure 360 mm, while the rear discs are 358 mm.
Brake option standard uses cast-iron discs coated with tungsten carbide. They resist corrosion and produce little brake dust.
The front discs measure 410 mm, while the rear discs are 365 mm.

Regenerative Braking
The regenerative braking system in this model offers several modes. The most efficient option is the Automatic Regeneration Mode, where the vehicle coasts when possible and employs regenerative braking to reduce speed as needed.
Manual regeneration is another mode, where regenerative braking is controlled by pressing the brake pedal. The brake system blends in physical brakes only when necessary.
Another option is the Regen on Accelerator Pedal mode where regenerative braking is activated when the driver eases off the accelerator pedal. This system allows the vehicle to slow down and recover energy without the driver needing to press the brake pedal, a feature often referred to as one-pedal driving.
If you lift away the foot completely the regen is at one fixed level. This can't be adjusted.
The maximum regenerative braking power is 265 kW.

The Porsche Taycan (GEN1) offers multiple wheel options in different sizes. The available tire and wheel combinations include:

Narrower wheels reduce energy consumption and can increase range, while wider wheels can improve traction and handling.
The car has four regular doors and a liftgate, which makes the trunk much more usable compared to a traditional bootlid, especially for a sedan.
A powered liftgate is standard, and a hands-free kick sensor is optional.
There are three different roof options to select from.

A large fixed panoramic roof extending from front to rear is optional. Its tinted glass reduces solar heat.
As an option, you can order this model with a large panoramic roof extending over most of the areas from the front to the rear. This glass creates a more spacious and bright interior. The glass has an electrochromic function that lets you blend the glass to protect against the sun.
Privacy glass from the B-pillar rearward is optional. It reduces glare and solar heat.
As an option, double-glazed side windows are available to reduce cabin noise.

This model is not available with a towbar and cannot tow a trailer.
