Battery, Range, and Charging
The battery has a gross capacity of 51.1 kWh and a net usable capacity of 49.0 kWh, with a 2.1 kWh buffer (4.1%) for battery protection. With a nominal voltage of 355 volts, the system is classified as a 400-volt battery system.
According to the WLTP (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure) standard, the vehicle's range is 320 km (199 miles), with an energy consumption rate of 15.3 kWh/100 km (4.1 mi/kWh).

The vehicle supports fast DC charging with a maximum power of 94 kW. A 0–100% charge takes approximately 82 minutes. A typical 10–80% session takes about 31 minutes at an average power of 67 kW.
With five minutes of overhead per stop, the optimal charging window is 7–73%. Effective average power, including overhead, is 59 kW over a session lasting about 33 minutes and 2 seconds.
In a 1000 km challenge at a constant speed of 120 km/h (75 mph) with an assumed consumption rate of 24 kWh/100 km, the trip would take about 11 hours and 35 minutes, needing six charging stops from 7% to 72%, totaling 195 minutes of charging time.
Onboard Charger
The standard onboard charger supports AC charging at up to 11 kW. A full 0–100% charge takes about 4 hours and 27 minutes with a suitable home charging setup.
Charge Port
The location of the charge port is on the left front corner. This location makes it easy to use charge stations where you need to park with the front in.

Drivetrain
The MG ZS EV Standard Range has a front-wheel drive system supported by one motor on the front axle.
The motor used is Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor.
Suspension
The suspension system features a MacPherson strut front construction and a torsion beam rear construction. Both the front and rear dampers are monotube dampers, providing consistent performance and durability. The front and rear springs are coil springs, offering a balance of comfort and performance.
The MacPherson Front / Torsion Beam Rear suspension has a fixed height and damping characteristics.
Ground clearance with this setup is 161 mm.
Drive Modes
The MG ZS EV Standard Range lets the user select different drive modes that affect the car's handling.
The driver can choose between 3 modes:
- Eco: Comfort steering and throttle.
- Normal: Balanced steering and throttle.
- Sport: Dynamic steering and throttle.
Brakes
The MG ZS EV Standard Range is equipped with cast-iron disc brakes on both the front and rear.
The front discs measure 300 mm, while the rear discs are 262 mm.
Regenerative Braking
Regenerative braking works in two ways: through one-pedal driving, or through the brake pedal using blended braking while coasting.
However, it is not considered full one-pedal driving since, at low speeds, the vehicle will keep rolling until it comes to a stop by itself.Drivers can also adjust the regenerative braking strength when lifting off the accelerator, choosing between three levels.
The maximum regenerative braking power is 50 kW.

The MG ZS EV Standard Range offers standard and optional advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
Safety Systems
Anti-lock Braking System (ABS): Standard on the MG ZS EV Standard Range. It prevents the wheels from locking during braking.
Electronic Stability Control (ESC): Standard on the MG ZS EV Standard Range. It improves stability during sudden maneuvers and on slippery roads.
Lane-Keeping Assist (LKA): Standard on the MG ZS EV Standard Range. It applies steering corrections if the vehicle begins to leave its lane.
The Lane Departure Warning alerts the driver if the vehicle begins to leave its lane.

Driving Automation
The standard MG Pilot SAE Level 2 system includes the following driving automation features:
- Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
- Lane Centering Assist (LCA) / AutoSteer: Centers the vehicle in its lane and adjusts speed in traffic. The driver must keep their hands on the steering wheel and remain attentive.

Cargo Capacity and Towing Ability
The trunk offers a cargo capacity of 448 liters (15.8 cu ft). With the rear seat folded down, this expands to 1166 liters (41.2 cu ft).
The maximum roof load is 75 kg (165.3 lb).
Optional roof rails are available for easy mounting of a roof box or rack.
The frunk (front trunk) has a capacity of 150 liters (5.3 cu ft).
The maximum permitted vehicle weight is 2070 kg (4564 lbs), and the base curb weight is 1620 kg (3571 lbs). This leaves a payload of 450 kg (992 lbs), including occupants. Options can increase curb weight and reduce payload.
450 kg is considered low for this type of car and may limit how much cargo you can carry in addition to passengers.
A towbar can be added to the vehicle. The maximum permissible weight for a braked trailer is 500 kg (1102 lbs), while for an unbraked trailer, it is 500 kg (1102 lbs).
