Fangchengbao (方程豹) was unveiled by BYD in August 2023 as a third standalone sub-brand alongside Denza and YangWang, positioned to compete in the rugged-lifestyle and adventure-vehicle segment that had previously been dominated by traditional body-on-frame off-roaders. The name combines 方程 ('formula' or 'equation') and 豹 ('leopard'), and the brand identity centres on a 'mecha-inspired' design language with bold blocky proportions, full-LED 'twin-line cut' headlight signatures, exposed hardware accents, and an angular rear cargo carrier (the so-called 'small backpack').
The lineup is built around three platforms. The off-road oriented Bao series — Bao 5 and Bao 8 — uses BYD's DMO super-hybrid off-road architecture and is sold exclusively in plug-in hybrid form. The Tai (钛, 'titanium') series, by contrast, is fully battery-electric and built on the new EVO+ unibody platform; it launched with the Tai 3 in April 2025, followed by the larger Tai 7 in 2026, and was refreshed with 800V 'flash-charging' editions in March 2026 using BYD's second-generation Blade Battery (10–70 % SOC in roughly five minutes).
Fangchengbao's signature party trick is the optional Lingyuan (灵鸢) integrated drone system co-developed with DJI: a roof-mounted hangar that auto-charges, auto-launches and auto-recovers a customised DJI Air 3S, with one-touch AI editing for in-cabin video creation. Other distinguishing features include the DiPilot 100 / God's Eye C ADAS suite (12 cameras, 5 mmWave radars, 12 ultrasonic sensors), DiSus-C / Yunlian-C predictive adaptive damping with road-preview camera on top trims, optional DEVIALET sound (up to 16 speakers including driver headrest units), iTAC intelligent torque control with iATS terrain recognition, and brand-exclusive cabin features such as a centre-console flashlight and dedicated karaoke microphone.
The brand is sold primarily in mainland China and broke 300,000 cumulative sales in early 2026; certain models have been confirmed for international export under the Denza marque (notably the Tai 3, badged Denza B3 in select Asian markets).
