Adaptive regeneration automatically varies regenerative deceleration according to the driving situation instead of applying one fixed lift-off level.

What it can use

A vehicle may consider traffic ahead, navigation data, speed limits, curves, gradients, driver behavior, and battery or traction limits. The system can choose stronger regeneration when slowing is useful and allow more coasting when maintaining momentum is efficient.

The behavior is calibration-dependent and can change as sensor confidence or battery charge acceptance changes. Adaptive regeneration is distinct from lift-off regeneration, which describes what happens when the accelerator is released, and from one-pedal driving, which may target a full stop.
