Lift-Off Regeneration
Lift-off regeneration is negative motor torque commanded when the driver releases or eases off the accelerator. The motor acts as a generator and can return energy to the battery.
What affects it
The deceleration can be fixed, selectable, or adaptive. It may be reduced when the battery is full or cold, at very low speed, during limited traction, or when stability systems intervene. Some vehicles compensate with friction braking; others allow deceleration to decrease.
Lift-off regeneration is not necessarily one-pedal driving, because it may not bring the vehicle to a complete stop. It also contrasts with coasting, where the requested drive and regenerative torque are kept near zero. Regenerative braking
