Cell-to-Body (CTB)
Cell-to-body (CTB) is a battery architecture in which the battery system is integrated with the vehicle body so that it shares structural or packaging functions beyond those of a separately mounted pack.
Where the boundary lies
In a CTB design, a pack cover or battery structure may also serve as part of the cabin floor or contribute to body stiffness. The term does not by itself mean that bare cells are bonded directly to the body, that no pack enclosure exists, or that the battery cannot be serviced.
CTB emphasizes integration with the passenger-carrying body. Cell-to-chassis terminology instead emphasizes integration with the chassis or skateboard beneath the upper body. Manufacturers and suppliers do not apply these labels consistently, so the shared parts and functions matter more than the acronym.
