Maximum 30-Minute Power
Maximum 30-minute power is a regulated electric-drive rating defined by UN Regulation 85. It is the maximum net power a drive can deliver, on average, over a 30-minute test under the regulation's stated conditions.
What it does—and does not—mean
The rating gives regulators and vehicle documentation a repeatable medium-duration value. It is not the short peak used for maximum acceleration, and it is not automatically the indefinite continuous power under every cooling or ambient condition.
Because the procedure defines test preparation, operating conditions, and averaging, a UN R85 figure should be identified as such. It should not be silently substituted for a manufacturer-defined continuous rating or a complete-vehicle peak figure. EV motor testing and ratings
The value is most useful when reported alongside the corresponding peak rating and the exact tested drive configuration.
