Cell-to-Chassis (CTC)

Cell-to-chassis (CTC) is a term for architectures that integrate battery cells or a battery energy unit directly with the vehicle chassis or skateboard, allowing them to share structural and packaging functions.

How it differs from cell-to-body

The chassis carries major vehicle loads and provides mounting points for systems such as the suspension and drivetrain. The body is the passenger-carrying structure above or around it. A CTC design therefore emphasizes the battery-to-chassis relationship, while cell-to-body emphasizes integration with the body or cabin floor.

The naming is not standardized. Suppliers may use CTC for designs that overlap with structural packs or CTB, and the acronym alone does not establish cell chemistry, repairability, crash performance, or whether a separate enclosure remains.
