Motor Power

Motor power is the rate at which an electric motor delivers mechanical work. It is normally stated in kilowatts (kW) at the motor shaft, although vehicle specifications may instead describe an axle or complete propulsion system.

How to read the figure

Mechanical power equals torque multiplied by rotational speed. A motor can therefore produce high torque at standstill while producing zero mechanical power until it starts turning. The same motor may deliver maximum power only across part of its speed range.

Always check the measurement boundary and whether the quoted value is peak, temporary, or continuous. Battery, inverter, cooling, and software limits can make a vehicle-level figure different from the sum of its motor ratings. EV motor testing and ratings

For comparisons, use figures defined at the same boundary and duration.
