ADAS Processor

An ADAS processor is an automotive computing device that runs perception, decision, and control software for advanced driver-assistance functions.

What it processes

The device may receive camera, radar, lidar, ultrasonic, positioning, and vehicle-motion data. A system-on-chip can combine CPU cores with image-signal processing, graphics or neural-network accelerators, memory interfaces, security, and functional-safety mechanisms.

An ADAS processor is not the assistance feature itself. The same hardware can support different functions depending on the sensors, software, validation, and vehicle integration. Likewise, a high peak compute rating does not show how quickly a complete system recognizes a hazard or whether it will respond safely.

Specifications may include CPU architecture, supported camera interfaces, memory bandwidth, safety capability, power use, and AI throughput such as tera operations per second (TOPS). These figures describe different parts of the computing problem and should not be treated as interchangeable.
