Vehicle Interior Air Quality (VIAQ)

Last modified: Aug 05, 2026

Vehicle interior air quality (VIAQ) describes the air inside a vehicle cabin during use, including pollutants released by materials and pollutants entering through ventilation. Temperature, time, airflow and filtration can change measured concentrations; odour is not a test result, filters address only selected contaminants, and vehicle-level and material-level methods answer different questions; see Interior Materials, Air Quality, and Circularity.
