Seat-Mounted Side Airbag and Compatible Seat Covers

A seat-mounted side airbag and compatible seat cover must work as one deployment system. The airbag exits through a defined trim path or tear seam, so a generic cover, cushion, repair, or re-trim can delay or obstruct it; “airbag compatible” should refer to the exact seat and cover design, not just a label or visible opening, and vehicle-approved parts and procedures should be used; see Child Restraints and Seat Safety.
