Seat-Integrated and Body-Mounted Seat Belts

Last modified: Aug 05, 2026

Seat-integrated and body-mounted seat belts describe where belt anchorages are carried. An integrated layout secures some or all anchorages to the seat structure, while a body-mounted layout secures them to the vehicle structure; the choice changes the structural load path and how belt geometry follows seat movement, but neither layout alone establishes superior crash protection, so complete-system testing and correct occupant position remain decisive; see Child Restraints and Seat Safety.
