Remote Parking
Remote parking lets a supervised parking function move the vehicle into or out of a space while the user is outside the cabin. The user normally operates it with a key fob or phone and must remain within a limited distance.
What it does
The vehicle uses ultrasonic sensors, cameras, and sometimes radar to follow a calculated low-speed path. Depending on the system, the user may need to hold a control continuously; releasing it stops the maneuver. Some systems only move straight through a narrow space, while others steer into a selected bay.
Remote control does not make the vehicle self-driving. Sensor blind zones, low or thin objects, curbs, moving traffic, poor connectivity, dirt, and weather can interrupt the maneuver or leave an obstacle undetected. The user must watch the complete area, keep the vehicle in sight, and stop immediately if the path becomes unsafe.
