Integrated Sunshade
Integrated sunshade means a retractable screen built into the vehicle trim around a window or roof rather than supplied as a loose, removable panel.
Manual and powered forms
A manual integrated shade can pull from a door panel or rear parcel shelf and hook into a retainer. A spring mechanism may keep the fabric taut and retract it when released. It requires no electrical power, but it still needs to be guided back into its housing rather than allowed to snap or twist.
A powered integrated shade adds a motor, guides, end-position control, and a switch or screen command. Its operating conditions, obstruction response, and coordination with the window vary by vehicle. “Integrated” therefore describes how the shade is packaged, not whether it is manual, electric, or equipped with anti-pinch protection. Volvo documentation provides a production example with manual rear-door shades and an electrically operated rear-window shade; that arrangement is not universal.
Different from glazing
The shade is a separate physical screen inside the cabin. Tinted and solar-control glazing change how the pane transmits solar energy, while switchable glazing changes an optical state within or on the glass. A vehicle may combine either glazing type with a shade, so the presence of one does not establish the performance or availability of another.
