GB/T Charging Standard

GB/T charging standards are China's recommended national standards for conductive electric-vehicle charging interfaces, connections, and communication; GB identifies a national standard, while /T denotes a recommended rather than mandatory standard. The phrase GB/T connector is useful shorthand, but it can hide several separate standards and generations.

Standards in the family

The GB/T 20234 family defines conductive connection interfaces. GB/T 20234.1 contains general requirements, GB/T 20234.2 covers AC interfaces, GB/T 20234.3 covers the established DC interface, and GB/T 20234.4 defines a newer large-power DC interface associated with ChaoJi. Related standards, including the GB/T 27930 family, define communication between off-board DC charging equipment and the vehicle's battery-management system. Legacy GB/T DC and the newer GB/T 20234.4 interface are not the same connector. A physical adapter also cannot by itself reconcile differences in communication, voltage range, current capacity, locking, safety logic, or regional vehicle configuration. Compatibility claims should name the interface, standard edition, vehicle, charger, and supported functions.
