Dedicated EV Platform
Dedicated EV platform is a vehicle architecture engineered specifically for battery-electric propulsion rather than adapted to accommodate both combustion and electric powertrains.
Design opportunities
Starting around an underfloor battery and compact electric drive units can give engineers more freedom over wheelbase, overhangs, cabin floor, crash structures, thermal systems, charging hardware, and electrical architecture. Standardized modules can also support several body sizes or brands.
These are opportunities, not guaranteed outcomes. A dedicated platform can still produce a heavy vehicle, limited payload, modest charging performance, or compromised luggage space. Battery thickness, suspension, seating position, body shape, and cost targets remain decisive. Dedicated also does not mean that every model uses the same cell chemistry, pack capacity, voltage, motor layout, or software.
