Child-Seat Compatibility and Three-Across Installation
Last modified: Aug 05, 2026
Child-seat compatibility and three-across installation describe physical fit, not seat count. Each restraint must suit its assigned position and remain independently secured without blocking adjacent buckles, belts, or anchorages.
What three-across requires
Three restraints must fit together while preserving belt routing, connector alignment, support, and space for every child. A wide bench or three approved positions does not prove that a chosen set will work. See Child Restraints and Seat Safety.
