Airbag Types
Last modified: Aug 05, 2026
Airbag type describes the body area and crash direction a cushion is designed to protect. Airbags supplement seat belts.
Common categories
Frontal airbags protect the head and chest; side airbags cover the torso or pelvis; curtains cover side glazing; knee airbags manage lower-body movement; centre airbags reduce movement across the cabin. Designs and seating-position coverage vary, so airbag count alone does not measure protection. See Airbags.
