Active Roll Stabilization

Active roll stabilization uses powered actuators to create or vary anti-roll torque instead of relying only on a fixed passive anti-roll bar.

What the control system can change

Depending on the design, an actuator can twist a split anti-roll bar or apply force through another suspension element. The controller can reduce body roll in corners, relax cross-axle coupling on uneven roads, or alter front-to-rear roll balance.

The system does not remove lateral load transfer, and its capability depends on actuator force, response time, energy supply, suspension travel, sensors, software, and fallback behavior. It is also distinct from a continuously variable damper, which changes velocity-dependent damping rather than directly imposing roll torque.
